Wire Series, 2010

Materials: Blue or Gold Wire and Cotton

The Wire Series is an interpretation of the relationship between sculpture and weaving. Referencing the Fiber Arts Movement since the 1960’s these selected works are blending the line between sculpture and weaving through the exploration of different materials. By using wire the pieces are able to become three dimensional and come out from the wall. It allows the texture of the piece to have more physical depth and to be able to change and form new shapes. This new exploration of shape merges the traditional techniques of weaving with a contemporary use of materials and ideas.
